Lionel Messi gives Thiago Motta a sure-banker tag as the Barcelona player moves to Atletico.

Thiago Motta's teammate in FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi has expressed confidence in the ability of the Italian-Brazilian to excel in his new club, Atletico Madrid. Thiago Motta signed for the Madrid outfit after agreeing on terms. The ex-Barcelona junior team player agreed to join Atletico on an initial one year deal worth around 2 million Euros. Messi said:

I don’t doubt he will do well. I am pleased because it is what he wanted. But at the same time I’m sad because the squad will miss having somebody like him around.

Motta arrived Barcelona as a 17 year-old in 1999, spending two years with the junior team before breaking through to the first team in 2001. Since then, the Italo-Brazil player has made over 150 appearances for the Blaugrana, lifting two Liga titles, as well as a Champions League medal.
