Messi is greatly disappointed with Rangers' anti-postive football display.

Barca's Argentine wonder kid, Lionel Messi has slammed Glasgow Rangers for playing an unnecessarily cautious brand of football against the Catalan giants when the two met at Ibrox. The champions league cracker was touted by many Rangers fans and players as a dangerous one for FC Barcelona, but at the end of the day, it was Rangers who were left hanging dangerously to a scoreless draw as the hosts would have conceded more than the required number of goals necessary for the host team. Other than a divine stroke of luck that prevented goals, Rangers also crowded their defence area and started out with a scandalous 4-5-1 formation and yet closing in further as the game wore on and adopting a 5-4-1 system which caved backwards even further into the game. Messi says:

It's incredible. Rangers didn't want to play football. They practised anti-football from the first minute and it's a shame we couldn't take victory because we created a good number of chances. We just didn't put them away. I think that when they come to the Nou Camp everything is going to be very different. We need to find a solution for breaking down a team who close down so much, but I don't believe we will come across many teams who play this way.

Rangers have expressed happiness at the scoreless draw and are maintaining their second spot position in the champions league group E behind FC Barcelona.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. Im also interested to know who you suppose moved from midfield to defence when Rangers allegedly changed to a 5-4-1 formation.

The simple fact is Rangers did not at any point play 5-4-1. We stopped Barca playing to their strenghts and Barca weren't good enough on the night to convert a single chance.

Hmm. That's rich coming from a player who likes a dive - the very embodiment of anti-football.
