The scuffle begins ahead of the main event.

Three Rangers fans were injured in Barcelona today after the visiting Scottish team fans became very troublesome as they were in high spirits ahead of the Champions League cracker against Barca at camp Nou. The incident became more serious when a segment of the Gers supporters stormed the area, leading to some bars and all-night newspaper kiosks in the famed 'Las Ramblas' area closing their doors in response to the atmosphere of danger. Up to 700 Rangers fans were reportedly involved. The Guardia Urbana Barcelona and the Mossos d'Esquadra, the national and local police forces, have seemingly yet to make any arrests.
Meanwhile, FC Barcelona have closed their ticket offices to Rangers fans, apparently on police advice, to ensure that there is strict segregation of supporters in the Nou Camp.

Rangers fans have had a history of violence. As far back as 1972, the club was unable to defend it's Cup Winners' Cup title which it won in Barcelona against Dynamo Moscow, due to violent clashes between supporters and the Guardia Civil after the game. Some Rangers fans came under fire for their conduct in Villarreal last year, earning their side a 19,000 Euro fine in the process.

amazing how two sets of fans from the city of Glasgow behave so dfferently. This is down to two things , values and culture. Celtic fans are civilised and have respect for others - Rangers continually throw the Scottish name back to the dark ages - its right through the core of that club.

apologies Barca, on behalf of Scotland and Celtic "supporters"

The sole existence of this blog perplexes me. The author has continually looked to provoke readers from opposition teams on many occasions with blatant lies. The blogger should seek an alternative means to express him (or her) self.

Shooting in Amsterdam, Air rage on the way back from Portugal (plane diverted to Cardiff), pepper sprayed in Lyon, stabbings in Seville, booed and jeered the winners lifting the cup, coins, lighters at Ricksen.......all being airbrushed like the BJK scandal.

"Spanish police reported no arrests at the match and dealt quickly with a skirmish at the section of the stadium which houses the Ultras section of Barcelona's support.
"I congratulate our supporters on the way they backed the team," said Bain. "Many thousands of them showed they came to the Nou Camp with the aim of enjoying themselves. We are disappointed to lose the game but it has been a great experience for everyone involved with our club."

Please keep your polemic and inaccurate headlines to yourself.

As for the Celtic fam well the least said the better. More hypocrisy from the moral highground.

I remember 'Celtic blood being spilt' in Seville when fellow fans were stabbing each other. Not to mention 22 banning orders in Blackburn.

Great values indeed.

Rangers - Mes Que Un Club?

Yes more than a club, a national disgrace. Thugs and wannnabe English hooligans. The people of Barcelona know that Celtic's fans are one of the greatest ever sets of fans to visit the city, and they know all too well about the thuggery of rangers.

Celtic et Barca para siempre

over 22,000 fans and no arrests and this little scuffle was only "alleged incidents" as reported in the Catalan daily Sport then goal.com where this more excuse for a blog as reproduced the same article.

Now look at the Celtic fans on here trying to lick arse yet again. Oh please love us, pretty please...

Frank, Bob and the rest of you sluts, you all know this happened and it only makes you look worse when you keep trying to deny it. What's the point? Some Glasgow fans had an uproar in the city and things were later put under control. Are u trying to say Rangers fans ir any other club fans are not capable of such?

Rangers sing a song '..no-one likes us, we don't care'. You know what rangers? nobody else cares either. Go back to Scotland and crawl under your 300 year old anti Catholic stone. Have a look at this photo of them desecrating the monument to Francesc Macia. http://www.celtic-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=361894

As far as the football goes, you were played off the pitch by Barca. I'm sure Mr Larsson will have been on the phone to his old teamates reminding them to go that extra green mile. Nice one Barca!! From the Green & White side of Glasgow.

"I congratulate our supporters on the way they backed the team," said Bain. "Many thousands of them showed they came to the Nou Camp with the aim of enjoying themselves."

Wow! Well I suppose if Senor Bain says they behave well then it must be true. LOL.

Not a single Rangers fan arrested, no incidents of any significance. The Barcelona police chief said he was "very satisfied" with the conduct of Rangers fans. That is the reality.

"The Guardia Urbana Barcelona and the Mossos d'Esquadra, the national and local police forces, have seemingly yet to make any arrests." Thats the fact which really pysses off the Celtic support - oh how they prayed for trouble and now it hasnt materialised they are just inventing it. Sad pathetic individuals craving for love.

Is the writer of this blog actually Catalonian? I serious doubt that or that he knows much of Barcelona's history and politics.

In 1972, Rangers fans, like pretty much all fans of previous European winners, celebrated by coming on the pitch (for the supercilious Celtic commenter, your own fans did this in Lisbon).

Franco's fascist police then for no reason brutally attacked the fans with batons but to their surprise the fans actually retaliated and so a pitched battle ensued.

I've heard the people of Barcelona at the time, were actually impressed and pleased with the Rangers fans for standing up to Franco's men whom they totally despised. The fact that Barcelona welcomed Rangers back for a friendly tournament a year or so later, pretty much belies any possibility that they felt abused by the Glaswegian fans.

Perhaps the owner of this blog is someone who has some affection and sympathy for Franco and his fascist police? Feel free to expand this to the Catalonians who read this site.

Perhaps we need a Barcelona resident of 1972 to comment.

I would also like to comment on the Villa Real incident. Again as evidenced by TV footage Rangers fans were hit with batons for no real reason by the local police.

Villa Real were fined and censured for doing little to segregate the fans or give proper directions of where the away fans were supposed to be. This led to Rangers fans being scattered round the stadium and the police decided to use excessive force with batons to herd them into a corner of the stadium.

You only need to look up YouTube for some mobile phone footage.

I recall that Rangers were not fined for this incident but instead the censure was for one idiot throwing a bottle at the home team bus.

I also recall that Celtic fans had similar run-ins with the police when playing Villa Real a year or so before. The fans also blamed heavy handed policing.

Reflecting on this, perhaps the owner of the blog should be investigating the spilling of blood by the police of his country, rather than spinning lies about other club's fans.

Due to work and other reasons my partner and I have not had a holiday in 3 years. We decided to book 5 days in Barcelona ignorant of the fact that there was a European match with Rangers slap bang in the middle of our break.
I've read various news items, most praising the behaviour of the visiting fans. We had an apartment just off the famous Ramblas. Before last week I had no opinion on Glaswegians, thought I liked the Scottish (being Welsh myself) and had no opinion on Rangers FC. I have a few words to describe the fans we witnessed and unfortunately had to put up with ... SCUM, ANIMALS, SELFISH, THE LOWEST DREGS OF SOCIETY ... I could go on and on.
In our apartment we had 2 sleepless nights because of noise, quarrelling, fighting, stamping feet above us and constant shouting of foul language. EVERY(!) Scot was a foul mouthed, loud, aggressive, pissed up animal whether it was a female, a 17 year old lad or a 50 something man.
My partner had lewd comments made to her, had to witness Scots flashing her and pissing in the street and every Scottish sentence has the word 'fuck' in it which I never realised before.
The Rangers press officer thinks few arrests for violence and no major fights equals good behaviour. This is not true. Good behaviour equals respect for other people, respect for another city and overall manners. Rangers football fans have none of these. Which fortunately will not affect me again but did ruin the latter part of our had earned holiday.
Also, it gives a poor representation for Scotland in general, which is a shame as I know in reality that it is football fans that are generally scum and not Glaswegians! However, I do not wish to hear another Glaswegian accent for a very long time!!

I fail to see the truth behind these alegations. 22,000 rangers fans had a party in the Ramble and on the Catalunya square.
I for one made plenty of friends with the locals and I was cerainly not in the monority. As with evry football club a small minority will cause trouble and thankfully any instances of trouble was isolated with a handful of people involved.
As for urinating and vomiting in the streets- have you been to a scotland away game recently??? From what I witnessed this certainly no different. Ok our songs may not please neutrals but they were not sung in a way to offend locals or to provoke violence. Any paper that classes players as butchers is certainly not a proffessional editorial worth the paper it was printed on.
We welcomedbarcalona to Glasgow and this tabloid tripe has done nothing but stir bad blood and resentment.
