Rijkaard is pleased with Barca’s performance, but believes the Blaugrana can still do better.



The Dutchman was responding to the post-match press conference questions and indicated the level of confidence he had in the Barca stars showed that they would have gone ahead to win the match especially after going ahead in the 24th minute after a well taken shot by Thierry Henry. Rijkaard has seen a new spirit of determination rise in FC Barcelona as the new year dawned, and in addition, with extra resolve and an awakening after the reverse result in the el-clasico which was used to sign off a forgettable year 2007. Now in fresh and high spirits, Frank Rijkaard sees no limits to what the inspired Barca side can accomplish. Reacting to the match against Sevilla, Rijkard said:

We played well and had a good game, above all when Sevilla put us under intense pressure in the second half. We worked very hard, but we were unable to win the ball occasionally and cause them problems when we wanted another goal, as well as giving them time to reorganise. It was not that we lacked too much, just a little confidence and courage, but it is a good result and I have to congratulate the player. Analysing the game, I would say that it is a good result.

Rijkaard once again, praised Thierry Henry’s form as the Frenchman kept on with his recovery and rising form in FC Barcelona:

Thierry Henry played well and this affected the entire team’s performance. He operates well when given freedom to express himself. He had more freedom today and did very well.
