SearchTags: barcaThe ninth straight winMsek 17th November 2008 Despite the fact that Recreativo could hold for complete first forty five minutes, they failed to make any surprise as Messi and Keita scored for the Blaugrana to grab the three points to remain on the top of the table three points ahead of Villareal. It was matter of time to see Barca going to attack, while Recreativo closed all the possible way with 4-4-1-1 formation. Mseei led the most organized attack and came close to scoring in two occasions. Eto'o and Busquets had their own chances but Recreativo goalkeeper was in his top level as he stood out keeping his net safe. Recre were solid at the back, keeping things tight and well organized and seemed to counter attack. But they only managed to get anywhere in two occasions. Second half came just to see more of Messi. The Argentinian was followed by Recreativo everywhere trying to prevent him from any break throw. Messi found his way to get away from the defense, when Xavi took a free kick, and played a terrific pass through to Messi who was hiding behind the home wall, he collected the ball and drove home unstoppable shot. Recreative reacted to the goal with plenty of pressure, but only very rarely creating real danger. The nearest chance came when Bouzon diverted a corner onto the Barca post. Henry came with the reply twice, first when he hit the home woodwork and the second when his strike hit the post. It got to be clear to see the frustrating on the Frenchman who obviously deserved a goal. Barca finally put things out of reach of the home side, with a goal from Keita just minutes after replaing Touré Yaya. The substitute had little more to do than stroke the ball home after a magnificent assist from Eto'o in the 85th minute. Last chance came just to see Barca hitting the woodwork for the third time when Bojan header struck the post after crossed free kick from Alves. Super Eto'o and super hat-trickMsek 08th November 2008 It was not just another convincing win for the Blaugrana as it was much more for Eto'o who stole all the headlines after scoring four goals in less than forty five minutes. Gudjohnsen and Henry added one each in the second half to give Barca the necessary three points to remain on the top of the table. It was the visitors who had the first chance though, as a free kick from Medunjanin was denied by Valdes. It was very soon to see Barca advancing and dominating possession. Twelve minutes was enough for the home side to start the score line, when Alves deliver a fine ball behind the defense to find Eto'o who cut back onto his left foot and fired home through Asenjo's legs. Valladolid went forward as Barca had the lead, but this was for Messi just extra space to counter attack. Eto'o had a chance to add his second when he was set by Messi through on the keeper, but Asenjo did just enough to deny the Cameroonian. Henry had a real chance to give Barca comfortable lead but his shot didn't seem powerful to pass through Asenjo. After thirty minutes Eto'o chipped a ball to Henry into the box area who failed to trouble the goalkeeper who palmed it back to Eto'o who finished home the play he already started. In less than three minutes the Cameroonian striker added two more. While Eto'o had to pass over Asenjo before scoring in the 42nd minutes, it was easier for him to beat Valladolid goalkeeper in the 44th minutes with low shop near the left post. Barca continued their attacking football in the second half, but were displaying less apparent intensity than in the first half. Pep Guardiola made his first change, introducing Caceres for Rafael Marquez to give the Venezuelan some valuable playing time. Gudjohnsen the man who came back from injury put his name after Eto'o in the scoring list. After receiving the ball from Henry, the ice man chipped the ball over Asenjo to give The Catalan their fifth goal. The Icelandic international was replaced by Keita who also came from injury that kept him away for couple of weeks. Eto’o was given the honour of a standing ovation after being taken off and replaced by Helb, who just came to assist Henry to score the sixth goal in the 83ed minutes. Outstanding performance by the Catalan, beside Eto'o with the super hat-trick, all the players had good game and worked together as a team. Next game will be in the Spanish cup and will see many rested players. The game will be played in the middle of the week at Camp Nou. Basel holds Barca to a 1-1 draw at Nou CampMsek 04th November 2008 Despite the fact that Bsrcelona qualified for the last sixteen of the Champions League, their 11-match winning streak was ended after 1-1 draw against Basel who finally earned the first three points. As things doesn't seem complicated for the Catalan in their group, some key players were rested by Guardiola for next games. Henry started in front supported from both sides by Bojan and Hleb. The midfield was made up by Sanchez Iniesta and Busquets. Poyol and Sylvinho as right and left backs, while Marquez and Pique played last defenders. Basel came up with 4-5-1 formation, obviously defensive tactic. They depended on closing their own area as many times they were forced to stay with six players inside their own box area. Barcelona dominated the whole pitch but failed to open the score. The fifth minute saw the first opportunity of the match. Basel lost the ball deep in their own half, Iniesta forward the ball for Henry, but the french fired wide of the far post. At the 20th minutes, Iniesta looked for his luck from distance, but his effort wasn't powerful to trouble the goalkeeper. Bojan tried as well from outside the area, and Marquez from a free kick, but both players failed to direct the ball to the target. Basel seemed very organized on their own half, while Barca kept possession that didn't help to break through Basel defense line. The second half saw Messi and Xavi entering the pitch after replacing each of Bojan and Sanchez. The arrival of Messi was remarkable when he managed from his first run, after playing one two with Henry, to open the score for the home side after 61 minutes. It was a moment for the Argentinian international to show again what he is capable of. Iniesta seemed to have trouble with his right leg muscle, he was forced to leave the pitch allowing Eto'o to come in. Barce continued their pressure and they had one clear chance to increase the score line, but Pique's header was denied by the right post. As things appeared settled for the Catalan, Basel and after few moments after Pique's header, the substitute Derdiyok receives well cross from the right wing and beats Valdes with a powerful strike at the 82nd minutes. Barca went forward willing to grab a late goal, but the unexpected result remained unchanged until the final whistle. A draw that doesn't change much as they cleared their way to the next stage, this will keep them unconcerned for the moment about the champions league and focusing more in La Liga when they meet Valladolid next Saturday. Another Big Victory 1-4Msek 01st November 2008 Despite the bad conditions that was caused by the heavy rain, Barca showed strength and won three points after 1-4 victory against Malaga. Barcelona started well and they opened the score after five minutes, when Xavi scored from a direct free kick. With a magnificent shot from Duda, Malaga came up with the equalizer in the 12th minutes. Very soon Messi put Barca in the lead again, when Malaga defender failed to clear the ball to find Messi who sent home a fine low shot. In the second half, Henry came in to replaces Iniesta, who couldn't keep his usual style due the disastrous pitch. Bringing in Henry seemed to be a successful substitution, when Eto'o crossed the ball into the area, Henry taking all the option into consideration, he set the ball down with a header to find Xavi who strike it home with a left foot volley in the 53ed minutes. It was very well done move by Barca, made it even better the nature of the pitch. 1-3 lead gave Guardiola confidence to replace Messi with Sanchez and Eto'o with Bojan. Alves came to action, but his free kick was denied by the right post. Ten minutes before the final whistle, Alves again from another direct free kick with a help from the defender trying to clear the ball, but unfortunately for him, he sent the ball in the back of his own net. All things considered, Barca record went to eleven in a row, this time also the victory was convincing. It is not by accident the team play high level of football, it is mixture of quality players, and a man on the bench who knows his team well to take the best of each one of them. Next game will be against Basel in the middle of the week, easy win predicted for the Blaugrana. Barcelona win as Eto'o is in fine formMsek 25th October 2008 Barcelona continued the good run after celebrating their ninth win in a row, and sixth in the League, after beating Almeria 5-0. Guardiola selected the eleven players who lost to Numancia on the opening day of the season. With Alves, Marquez, Poyol and Abidal on the back line, Toure, Xavi and Iniesta on the midfield, Eto'o played striker while Messi and Henry played wide around him. Even though, Almeria had the first chance of the game with Albert Crusat heading wide, Barcelona replied soon when Eto'o took advantage of the poor clearance of the ball by Almeria defender, the Cameroonian gave no chance to Diego Alves as he volleyed into the back of the net. It wasn't so long before they added the second, when Messi's right foot shot found Henry, who tapped home. Things didn't seem to get better as Eto'o added the third goal on the twentieth minutes. Iniesta sent a brilliant through ball to Xavi, One on one with the keeper, he squared the ball to Eto'o, who tapped the ball into an empty net. Four minutes later, Messi found his way through the defenders and cutting back the ball for Eto'o, who scored the fourth for the Catalan, and his third in the game, and ninth in the league. After thirty six minutes, Alves scored the fifth and his first goal for the Blaugrana after taking a free kick from thirty five yards. Before that, Almeria had to play the rest of the game with ten men, after Negredo was sent off, after committing a foul against Marquez while showing no intention of going for the ball. After the break, the game seemed to lack the fast rhythm in the first half, even if some chances was available for both sides as Barca players looked careless due the scoreline. Guardiola made his first change when he brought in Hleb instead of Toure, then he took off Henry who was replaced by Bojan, and for the first time this season, Alves was taken off to be replaced by Victor Sanchez. Until the final whistle, Barcelona kept in attacking, while Almeria struggled not to receive any extra goals. Barcelona moved up three points, and they wait for tomorrow to see the rest of the results. The next game will be in the middle of the week in Copa del rey. Hopefully some players that haven't played enough minutes will have the chance to start the game. |
