Bernd Schuster finally takes over the helm of affairs at Real Madrid.


FC Barcelona member and former player, Bernd Schuster has been appointed as the new coach of Real Madrid. Schuster was presented at the Bernabeu as successor to Fabio Capello, an appointment which seemed all too likely and now confirmed. In presenting Schuster, Real Madrid's president, Ramon calderon said:

Today we are starting along a new path. We are not only intent on ensuring that Real Madrid continue to win trophies, but also that everyone is proud of the way we play.
We have complete confidence in Schuster to produce a team that will play excellently.
In order for all this to happen, we have had the fortune of hiring a person who possesses all those values that I mentioned earlier. Schuster was a great player. He has proved here. He's a great coach, and an excellent person. It's very easy to present and to receive he who was one of the most brilliant players who played for this Club.
Not only was he a player that left his mark on all the teams he has been with. He has also had a great career as a coach. Cologne, Xerez, Shakhtar, Levante, and then Getafe in 2005, who he finished this most recent season with as runners-up of the King's Cup, the best results ever by that club.

In response, Schuster said:

It is a very happy day for me. I want to thank everyone for being given this opportunity to come to such a grand club as Real Madrid.
I know what the club represents and I know what has to be done.
From the first day that I became a coach I have dreamt of coaching a great club like this.
Things have worked out very well.

Schuster has a way of being an eccentric, with the mocking gestures he made at Real madrid players after FC Barcelona scored Madrid in a past match.

Ex-Barca captain and Getafe manager Bernd Schuster was full of praise for the Barca team that beat his Getafe yesterday night.




The German coach claimed that he has seen the old and new Spanish Champions and that no team in Spain is able to stop the Barca engine before they cross the finish line.

"There are no rivals for Barca in Spain, I have seen the new Champions!

he described the dominance of FC Barcelona this season and he believes that this dominance will last for a while.
