Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor - Barcelona?

25th July 2008

Josep Guardiola has refused to be drawn on speculation linking Barcelona with Premier League stars Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Reports claim the Nou Camp boss is interested in both Chelsea's Drogba and Arsenal striker Adebayor in a bid to strengthen his side further ahead of his first campaign in the hotseat.

But Guardiola was remaining tight-lipped after watching Barca cruise to a 6-0 friendly win over Hibernian at Murrayfield in his first game in charge on Thursday night.

"I'm not here to speak about them," he said.

"I have many excellent players and I am working with them. All good players are interesting and those players are interesting but there are many, many good players, in England, Germany, everywhere."

Asked whether he was preparing to make a bid, Guardiola added: "I don't know. The sporting director can talk about that better than me."

Eidur Gudjohnsen helped himself to a double and Lionel Messi, Pedro, Bojan and Yaya Toure all claimed a goal apiece in a game where Messi stole the show in the 45 minutes he was on the park.

Guardiola is now seeking a quick resolution over the Argentinian's participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing this summer - a move Barcelona are opposed to.

He said: "(FIFA president Sepp) Blatter has to make a decision because we have been waiting a long time for the decision.

"If he has to go according to the law, he goes. If he is to stay according to the law, he stays."

"But a decision had to be made as quickly as possible."

A firm word for the British media from official of the Blaugrana.

FC Barcelona’s vice-president, Ferran Soriano has responded to the latets statements by the British media accusing FC Barcelona of secretly plotting to off-load Ronaldinho to an unnamed English Premiership clubside ahead of AC Milan. Speculations were rife in Britain that Ronaldinho will be moving to Chelsea, but Barca’s captain Carles Puyol has insisted that such rumours are empty and the press are getting excited over absolutely nothing. Now the Vice-president of Barca has come out to categorically state that:

Ronaldinho is not leaving Barcelona. He is staying here with us and staying for a long time to come. In December this year, the transfer window will open and Ronaldinho will not be in the market. In June next year, Ronaldinho will not be in the market. There is no negotiation over his leaving. He is part of us.

That was the conclusive note from the Catalan squad hoping that such will end the constant speculation over there prized jewel.

gabriel
12th July 2007

Royston Drenthe expresses his hearts desire and preferred destination.

Talented Dutch youth, Royston Drenthe has raised the stakes for Real Madrid and Chelsea FC by declaring he wants to play for Barcelona. Drenthe said:

I have always been a fan of Barcelona. It is my dream to play for Barca. Indeed, my team right now is Feyenoord, but if I should leave, I want to be in Barcelona.

The 20 year old Drenthe is keen on playing big time soccer with one of Europe's top teams. Real Madrid have gone a step ahead of others by tabling a reported 10 Million Euros for Royston, while Chelsea are offering 7.5 Million Euros. Barca are trying to picture where Royston, the Dutch youth team star will feature in the current super squad, especially with the coming of junior team stars into the FC Barcelona senior team, in the persons of goal machine and Spain promise, Bojan Krkic and highly talented Mexican, Giovanni Dos Santos, who both will lend support to Samuel Eto'o and Thierry Henry upfront.

Royston's coach at Feyenoord last season, Erwin Koeman has already spoken to the Holland revelation as planned a few days ago, and expresses caution over the buzz currently going on around his young ward. Koeman feels that perhpas, the Dutch star should spend one or two seasons more in Feyenoord before leaving for higher challenges, in order to ensure his success at the big stage. This notion though, is not adequate to cool of the big clubs from bidding for the fantastic young man.

Lampard Drops Bombshell For Chelsea FC

gabriel
02nd July 2007

FC Barcelona become more visible as Frank Lampard's contract talks at Stamford Bridge is stalled.

Jose Mourinho has cut short his holiday to personally intervene in issues involving Chelsea FC engine room, Frank Lampard and the Chelsea Management Board, after Lampard rejected his latest contract offer from the Chelsea Chief executive himself, Peter kenyon. This has also fuelled fingers pointing the way of FC Barcelona in the Lampard linger, throwing open, news and speculations about the exit of Stamford Bridge's highly respected English International.

Lampard had some misgivings with Chelsea over delaying his contract talks mid-season, and seems not so keen on making amends so soon, with additional reports linking him with moves to either FC Barcelona or Serie A returnees, Juventus, Chelsea is in a state of emergency talks with Lampard to know where his highly sought after soccer skills will reside next season. It was initially indicated that Deco from FC Barcelona will likely be moving to Chelsea in exchange for Lampard, in a deal that will see Deco reunite with his former boss, Mourinho, but Deco links with Inter Milan and the Barca managment's recent comments against Deco's exit has quietened moves by other clubs to have Deco. Perhaps, an all cash move is what will eventually see Frank Lampard out of Chelsea FC, if his contract issues are not sorted soon enough. Frank already feels somewhat slighted by his contract delays, and sees this as a possible signal from the Chelsea Board that he's no longer wanted.

Should Lampard leave Chelsea, a move to another English club like Liverpool FC, Arsenal or Manchester United is highly unlikely. Spain preferably or Italy as second choice are the two most probable destinations for the long range, sharp-shooting midfield gem.
