Three quick goals and a quick entrance into the record books for Thierry Henry.

King Henry is the sixth man to have scored a hattrick in the era of current Barca coach Frank Rijkaard. The talented Frenchman is also the fourth player in the current crop of players to register this feat. The former Arsenal man is no stranger to setting records, as he is the all time top scorer for Arsenal FC, and is also one goal short of equalling Michel Platini's record for the French national team.

Cruyff Is Angry With FC Barcelona's Performance

gabriel
28th August 2007

Dutch legend sees bleak future for the Blaugrana if attitude is not changed.

Johan Cruyff is one man who is very unhappy with the outcome of La Liga Day 1 for FC Barcelona. The Barca legend, who is often blunt and direct in his approach, clearly scribbled the conclusion to the Blaugrana's performance, predicting that danger lies ahead if nothing changes with immediate effect. This verdict was scripted in Cruyff's usual style in his weekly column writing for El Periodico:

Barca's performance was disappointing. We are talking about football and not a movie. There are no superheroes here. There are only football players, normal people. The over-blown flattery is not a good thing It surley has the reverse effect. If this is the reaction, it shows that nobody has learnt anything at all. The worst thing is not to know ones faults. I do not know anyone that has won a trophy before playing for it. It is absurd and very dangerous. If every day you read that you are fantastic, that the squad is incredible and that the team is unbelievable, then in the end you begin to believe that. There were the same mistakes, nothing has changed. On one hand you can ask them to look in the mirror and learn some lessons, while at the same time one has to ask how are they going win. You will never solve problems if you do not know what the problem is. The sooner the problems are identified, the better.

A lot will be proved in Barcelona's next league game against Athletic on 2nd September, and this match will tell if changes have been made.

Ronaldinho To Chelsea: Roman Abramovich Moves In

gabriel
27th August 2007

From Russia with Love? Abramovich offers blank cheque for Ronaldinho.

Reports linking Chelsea's Russiian billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich to a personal involvment in getting Ronaldinho to Stamford Bridge has surfaced. It comes following meetings reported to have taken place twice over the past 2 days between the agent-brother of Gaucho Ronaldinho and the Russian billionaire. Ronnie's links with AC Milan have finally died down, and the fresh links with Chelsea is the latest to plague the transfer status of the FC Barcelona heartbeat. The report reads:

In the most audacious transfer business of his Chelsea tenure, the Russian billionaire spent the weekend entertaining Roberto de Assis Moreira, flying him in on his private jet and putting him up at the exclusive Lanesborough Hotel in Mayfair. Abramovich is desperate to see his Chelsea side play with more flair and adventure, not least after seeing them stutter to a 1-0 win against Portsmouth on Saturday, and would consider it money well spent for the 27-year-old, who has twice been named World Player of the Year.

FC Barcelona officials are expected to react very soon.
