Weekly Transfer Rumour I: Deco not interested in Internazionale

sven
27th April 2007

Latest speculation from Italy suggested FC Barcelona midfield star Deco is moving to Inter Milan at the end of the season. Former, but out of favour, Barca player Luis Figo invited Deco to join Inter, who himself is looking to play in the Middle East next year, of course for a lot of money.

But Deco told Milan based Gazzetta dello Sport:

I thank Figo for indicating me as his heir at Inter, but I do not see any reasons to change. However in football things can change, because results determine everything. Have I been contacted by Inter? My agent takes care of these things. However, even if it has happened, I couldn´t say so. But now is not the time to talk about these things. We have a Liga title to win.

Lyon´s Abidal not clear about future yet

13th April 2007

Olympic Lyon´s full back Eric Abidal has a clear desire to leave Olympique Lyon at the end of the season. abidal rejected a contract extension on better terms to 20012 and informed Lyon´s president and coach his desire to leave by the end of the current campaign.

So far, he has not received any concrete proposal, but he revealed that some of Europe´s finest addresses are interested in his services:

I have not received proposals yet. It is true there is interest from several clubs but it is too early to receive concrete contract offers because I still have to more years on my contract. I like Spain, for the culture and Football, but I am open to everything. Anything else that has been said so far is pure speculation. I know that Barca is interested in me, as well as Real Madrid, Arsenal, Milan and Internazionale, although I do not know if I am going to any of these 5 clubs in the future.

Inter´s Moratti: "To get Messi, I would do anything!"

sven
28th December 2006

Inter Supremo Massimo Moratti is a huge fan of Barca´s wonderkid Leo Messi. Moratti knows that Messi is untouchable but would consider to do anything, once the argentinian youngster with the magic skills would be on the transfer market. So far, only Ronaldo was ever able to excite the Inter boss so much, who is following the situation of young Messi very closely. Moratti claimed that should FC Barcelona have any problems to renew Messi´s current contract or if Barca would be ready for negotiations, Inter will be ready to take action at any time:

Improving a team like the one we have now is very difficult. Leo Messi is a fantastic player, but I don't think Messi will be sold, but if Barcelona decide to let him go, I will be the first to make an offer. For a player like Messi I would be ready to do anything. When Messi has the ball he looks to one side and sends the ball to the other, as if he had eyes on his back. Fantastic!

Moratti admitted that a few year ago there was a chance to sign the incredible youngster, but unlike several English Clubs like Arsenal (Fabregas, Merida), Manchester United (Piqué) and Chelsea (Tejera), who on a regular basis trying to raid the Spanish clubs youth developments, he admitted that signing Messi, meant that Inter would have to act incorrectly towards FC Barcelona:

A few years ago, I had the chance to get him, but I would have been forced to act incorrectly with regard to FC Barcelona, so I didn't do it.

Thanks a lot, Signore Moratti!
