Maxi Lopez, the first of four players to leave Barca this summer, speaks of his exit.

After winning two league titles and the Champions League trophy with FC Barcelona, Maxi Lopez is leaving the Catalan giants for Russia where the player will hope to transfer his experience in the top of the top flight football in Spain and Europe to the Moscow outfit. Maxi still has his heart and emotions set in Camp Nou even though his days in the Blaugrana are over. Maxi Lopez said:

Barça will always be in my heart because the club gave me the chance to play in Europe for the first time. I am leaving a great club, a hard-working squad and friends that shown me a lot of support. I have made many friends here and it has been brilliant. The fans have always supported me too and I will always remember that.

Asked if he felt he didn't see enough action at Barcelona, Maxi replied:

During my stay in Barcelona, I always gave everything. I have learned a lot as there are so many experienced players here. I am always positive and do not the word negative in my vocabulary. Playing here has allowed me to fulfil a dream. I have had the chance to live through some amazing times as part of a humble group of superstars.

Speaking on the circumstances surrounding his transfer, Maxi Lopez revealed that:

We had to sit down and consider what was best and easiest for myself and for both clubs. Moskov wanted me to join very quickly. They are playing for trophies and that attracted me. I want to continue to learn as much as possible.

After Maxi's exit, attention now shifts to three other players in FC Barcelona, namely Eidur Gidjohnsen who is courted by West Ham United, Thiago Motta and Santi Ezquerro who are all set to leave Camp Nou.

FC Barcelona have loaned young Argentinean striker, Maxi Lopez, to Real Mallorca for one season.

Youngster Maxi joined Barca from River Plate about 18 months ago in a winter replacement for the then long-term injured Swede Henrik Larsson.
Since joining Barcelona Maxi found it very difficult to play regular first team football.

FC Barcelona wanted to loan him out last winter and received many offers from Spanish and European Clubs from the likes of Real Betis, Real Sociedad and West Ham among others. But Maxi refused all these offers and committed himself to fight for a place in the first team. All in all, he made less than five Spanish La Liga appearances during the entire season.

Maxi and Barcelona lately agreed that a year of regular first team football experience would develope his chances at Barca in the future.

FC Barcelona announced on their official website that the board agreed to the 1-year loan to Real Mallorca as soon as Eidur Gudjohnsen has officially signed for Barca from Chelsea.
