Barca youngster Messi flies out to Rosario, Argentina today

Today injured Barca starlet Lionel Messi will fly out with his father and FC Barcelona physiotherapist Juanjo Brau to his hometown Rosario in Argentina. He will start his 7 days recuperation programme to recover from his muscle injury. He will find the necessary quietness in Rosario away from Barcelona. Jordi Ardèvol, head of Barca´s medical department explained: "This is the second phase of the treatment. Messi finished the first phase in Barcelona where he received physiotherapeutical treatment. Now he needs a quiet environment to start working with the ball. The third phase of the programme will start after his return to Barcelona when he will start to train with the team again".

Barca Players Injury & Medical Treatment Update

The Barca players had a day off on Monday but 5 Barcelona team members received medical treatment ahead of Friday's La Primera Liga match against Villarreal.


FC Barcelona players Ronaldinho, Márquez, Messi, Belletti and Van Bommel were in for treatment by the Barca medical staff.


Barca defender Belletti and midfielder Van Bommel received medical treatment for knocks they picked up in their last match against Racing Santander on Sunday, whilst Ronaldinho and Leo Messi are near to recovery from the injuries that kept them out of the match at La Sardinero Santander.


Belletti aggravated a sore Achilles tendon in the match against Racing and came in for some physio therapy.


Mark van Bommel also picked up a few knocks in the match on Sunday and came in for some medical treatment for his bruises to ensure he'll be fit and ready for the upcoming big games ahead.



Brazil´s international Ronaldinho continued with his treatment for the bruise on his right leg, receiving a massage in the treatment room and additionally he worked out in the gym at La Masia.


Argentinian youngster Lionel Messi, who trained normally with the full squad on Friday was in to continue his recovery programme to get himself back in tip top condition.


Barca´s Mexican defender Rafael Marquez continued with the combination of training ground and gym work and yesterday worked out at La Masia with fitness coach Francesc Cos. Márquez did some running, ball control exercises and shooting practice.



Xavi was not present at La Masia because he joined the national team yesterday. He is expected to take part in the Barca team training today.
