West ham Official Throws In The Spanner In Gudjohnsen Talks

West Ham is being awaited to take the final step in the Gudjohnsen transfer talks.

An official from West ham is raising concerns about Barca star, Eidur Gudjohnsen's injury and arguing the Icelandic star might not be ready to move to England just yet, until the injury heals. This comes amid rising interests from The Hammers for the Barcelona forward. Curbishley spoke about Gudjohnsen, saying:

Eidur Gudjohnsen is injured and has not recovered yet. He's battling to get fit, so there is nothing in it at the moment. He's still a Barcelona player. But the transfer window is still open, and we are still active. We're still short in one or two areas.

Talks however have not ended as a deal can still be reached. West ham also made a bid for another injured and talentd player from Derby, Giles Barnes, though this bid was outrighly rejected by the English side, Derby, who still have plans for youthful Barnes. The Derby player however is not in the star class of Barca's Eidur Gudjohnsen. A final decision on the Eidur move is expected from The Hammers soon.

FC Barcelona's President Speaks On Deco, Dos santos And Transfers

gabriel
16th August 2007

Following growing concerns of certain activities in Camp Nou or the lack of it, Laporta steps up to offer explanations.

FC Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta has spoken on various issues affecting the Blaugrana, top of which are the out-going transfer rumours surrounding Deco and Ronaldinho, the listed players for transfer away from Barca and the teen wonders Bojan Krkic and Giovanni Dos Santos. On the Portuguese and Brazilian stars, Laporta says:

Deco and Ronaldinho are staying in Barca. Neither of them are for sale. The news and the rumours are baturally part of the summer buzz and speculations. If Deco is happy here at Barça then he will continue to be stay here. He is important to us.

About the issue of Thiago Motta, Maxi Lopez, Santi Ezquerro and Eidur Gudjohnsen who are all listed as outgoing players but have yet been tied down to Barcelona despite many requests from Spain, Italy and England, Laporta says:

Talks continue and must not be rushed. I must canvass for patience from all parties concerned. We are always looking for the best solution. This is something that requires time because many factors can come into play that are difficult to predict. Besides that, all the listed players still have contracts with FC Barcelona and they are not under any obligation to leave. They are training as normal and should not be treated any differently. Everyone at Barcelona is equal. Things are continuing as normal and to find a positive outcome we have to look for a solution that will satisfy everyone involved.

On emerging young talents, Dos Santos and Bojan, the Barca president says:

Giovanni Dos Santos is an excellent player, who has gone beyond being an option for the first team. He is now in the Barca senior team and that's it. We hope that Giovanni and Bojan Krkic can achieve the same things along the same line as Messi and other great players. Everyone is very excited about this squad because they can win everything. We are conscious of the responsbility and expectation. Everyone just has to continue to work hard and enjoy themselves and success will arrive.

The Hammers Set To Fall On FC Barcelona's Gudjohnsen

gabriel
14th August 2007

Gudjohnsen may not remain at Barca if things go as planned.

West Ham's Icelandic chairman Eggert Magnusson wants to snap up Barca Icelandic star, Eidur Gudjohnsen in a deal that Barcelona are hoping will bring in around 10 Million Euros into Camp Nou. Gudjohnsen has been a top object of desire for The Hammers who are building a new squad to rival other top Premeirship sides in a come back bid to English soccer and possibly to Europe. Magnusson said about the Gudjohnsen transfer:

We are still in discussions. Barca have not accepted or offer yet, contrary to what has been recently announced, but we are continuing talks.

Gudjohnsen has recently not been gauranteed any regular appearance in FC Barcelona, and this uncertainty worsened after Txiki Begaristain, Barcelona's sporting director, maintained that Guddy may not feature regularly if he remains in Barcelona this season.

Tevez to Barcelona just speculation

sven
03rd November 2006

Carlos Tevez's agent Adrian Ruocco claims that rumours of a possible FC Barcelona offer for the Argentine international is pure speculation.
English tabloid reports suggested that FC Barcelona enquired about unhappy Carlos Tevez as another attacking option to cover for injured Samuel Eto'o in the January transfer window. However, Tevez's agent Roucco insists he or West Ham United have not heard or spoken to Barca and the stories are purely a media stunt:

These kind of things are always managed through formal offers," Roucco told Ole. If there is anything, the player and I have to be informed. If I have not been told anything it means that there's nothing official. All the rest is speculation and it has been going on for several months. Up to now, there has been no official offer. It is all speculation. If it wasn't, this information would be more important. Tevez stays at West Ham United.

Gabri seeking transfer to West Ham before deadline at midnight

Carmen
31st January 2006

.Gabri
Gabri may have played his final game in a Barcalona jersey against Real Mallorca last Sunday.

It is understood that he player is expected to put pen to paper on a new contract today or at least go on loan for the rest of the season. Gabri's arrival in London today to discuss personal terms comes after Frank Rijkaard agreed to Gabri´s transfer request on Monday.
After his severe long-term injury last year, Gabri hasn't managed to hold a regular place with the “Azulgrana”. In a personal meeting with coach Frank Rijkaard and sport director Txiki Begiristain, both made clear that Gabri is considered an important part of the team and that should be given the opportunity to compete for a regular place in the squad. However, they also agreed that they would not stand in the way of the long serving and loyal catalan player, if he requested a transfer.

Gabri has expressed his frustration with the fact that it will be difficult for him to get in the start up line, with Beletti and Oleguer playing in his right defender's position, indeed, the whole right side of the field is covered with class players such as Giuly, Messi, Ezquierro, Van Bommel, Iniesta and Deco.

Reluctantly he has decided to hand in his transfer request and asked for permission to negotiate a move to the East End of London. It seems that the Hammers made an offer lucrative enough to lure Gabri away from the Nou Camp to ply his trade at Upton Park. The manager of the `Hammers', Alan Pardew, sees Gabri as the ideal candidate to fill the gap left after the departure of Tomas Repka. Another English side, Middlesbrough, has also shown an interest in Gabri but it seems that the player has decided to move to Upton Park
