On Wednesday, April 4, the Barça page was officially launched on Youtube.com and has proved to be a huge success with the presentation video receiving around 100,000 hits during the first week. As well as the presentation video, the Blaugrana page on Youtube.com also has 16 other videos. The page will be updated with more and more videos each week.

FC Barcelona announced a plan to launch its own football channel on www.youtube.com/fcbarcelona. YouTube, recently bought by Google in a stunning USD 1.6 bill. take over, is the market leader in online video and the prime destination to watch and share original videos worldwide on the net.


The concept is simple: The new Barca online channel will give internet users the opportunity to view and share video clips on YouTube. It will include selected content from Barça TV, the official club channel dedicated to FC Barcelona, including news, in-house productions and promotional clips.


FC Barcelona is the first Spanish football club to have its own branded channel on YouTube. By providing content on YouTube, FC Barcelona will distribute the Barça TV content to their football fans around the world in a totally new way. It also shows that Barça continues to innovate as it follows new media trends and actively interacts with its audience.


The international version of Barca TV was set up in early 2006. Now it is available in over 120 countries around the world. It offers six hours of programming every week, including both, the original version and the English version which can then be translated into other languages. The club is also planning to launch an online service which will make Barça TV full-length videos and programmes available for online viewing.
