FC Barcelona presents the first official interview with Jose Manuel Pinto.
Since joining the Catalan giants on a six-month, convertible loan deal, Jose manuel Pinto has been on the spotlight as the experienced keeper ahs been regarded as an effective back up - and sometimes alternative - for first choice keeper Victor Valdes, who has been in spectacular form this season. The Celta Vigo safe hands is confident that he will make a great impact in Barca both on and off the pitch, while insisting that the Blaugrana have all it takes to rise to the pinnacle of world soccer. The new goal keeper has spoken once to Barca TV since his arrival, but now presents an official interview in which the custodian shares his views in a lengthy discussion. In order to avoid over-crowding the schedule of the Catalan giants, the Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) have rescheduled Barca's next La Liga game.
This became necessary after the Blaugrana were earlier required to play both Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao within a space of 46 hours, both matches being away matches and implying Barca will not have any chance to regroup or to train at Camp Nou before playing the second match. The former schedule had the Copa del Rey match at El Madrigal between Villarreal and FC Barcelona scheduled for Thursday, January 24th at 22:00 hours local time while the Athletic Bilbao clash in San Mames was fixed for Saturday evening at 22:00 hours local time but has now been postponed to Sunday, January 27th at 19:00 hours local time.
FC Barcelona will return from the Villarreal clash on Friday, then leave for the La Liga clash with Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
After Lionel Messi, Deco and Edmilson's return, it's more good news for Barca as Ronaldinho is recording great progress in private training.
Ronaldinho has been out since the el clasico disaster, and has not appeared in any of Barca's last six matches since then. The Brazilian was diagnosed with a muscular strain and has been undergoing intensive treatment since then. Team physiotherapy expert, Juanjo Brau has been personally involved in Ronaldinho's recuperation and says the midfielder is making an astonishing progress. Ronaldinho has been the subject of press attacks and also sometimes by the fans, for what they saw as a deliberate loss of form by the Barca gem who has been having problems with injury since the ending of last season after an over-loaded time-table for both club and country in the 2006/07 season.
Efforts by FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta for club compensation is finally bearing fruit.
Uefa president Michel Platini has announced that clubs will benefit from a package being put together, which will allow compensation to be paid out to clubs whose players honour internal matches. The clubs are often denied of the chance to use their star players, who such clubs paid handsome figures to acquire and who often come back injured and dumped on the club for treatment by their respective national associations. The total outlay of 174 million Euros will be disbursed over the next four years.
FIFA President, Sepp Blatter coming out to openly suggest that the timing of the African Nations Cup be changed from January-February to July-August, when most clubs worldwide especially in Europe will be on break and when other similar competitions like the European Championship and Copa America are played.
