Barcelona dominated Basel from start to finish as they managed to win their third game with 0-5 victory to remain on the top of the group with nine points in the Champions League groups stage.

Guardiola shuffled the team again by calling up some players and resting others. Bojan started in front with Messi and Hleb as wings, the midfield was filled by Xavi, Busquets and Toure, in the back line there were Alves and Sylvinho on the right and left backs and Marquez with Puyol being last defenders.

Without any problem, the Catalan started the game with full control of the ball, soon after three minutes, after nice team work, Alves with sensational pass set Messi who tapped the ball home on the volley from five yards out. Effective short passes all over the field gave Barca all the possible ways to push on their opponent in their own area. On the 15th minutes, Xavi picked the ball up 25 yards from goal and saw Busquets on the right before rushing a pass to the young midfielder, thanks to the good control, he managed to put the ball between the goalkeeper legs. With no reaction from the home side as things went wrong for them, Barca continued the attacking waves, this time Bojan, who was given too much space he strike the ball form the edge of the area into the low corner. Chances were available to make the score bigger but 0-3 was the first half result.

Even if Barca started the first half well by scoring one goal after three minutes, the first three minutes in the second half were much better, as Bojan and Xavi added the 4th and the 5th goals. Same rhythm kept in repeating itself but with no more goals. with such a big lead, Barcelona were able to relax and be sure about the three points. Cceres, Henry and Sanchez were the substitutions for Guardiola when they replaced Marquez, Xavi and Toure. Henry stood as left wing while hleb was sent to the midfield.

The last minutes saw some chances for Basel, but none of them caused any real danger as the final whistle blew to give Barcelona a perfect nine from nine and to condemn Basel to bottom place with zero points from their three match so far.

Brilliant performance by the players and the coach, who proved that building a team from youth players can bring good results rather than paying millions. All five goals came from Barca youth products, Busquets scored today his first goal and it seems that he will be seen wearing the Blaugrana shirt for the next years.

Thanks to a second half goal from Eto’o, Barcelona goes home with full three points. Very difficult game for the Blaugrana, but they managed this time without Xavi and Messi, to win their first game without conceding a goal.

The first half wasn’t easy for the Catalan to put their usual football into practice, especially when Athletic with 4-5-1 formation didn’t give enough space for the midfielders to keep possession of the ball. The home side had their first chance after three minutes, when Valdes kept out a well hit effort from David Lopez. Eto’o came out with the reply on the 9th minutes, but his shot from the edge of the area didn’t trouble Iraizoz. Iniesta, who was playing on the right side attack tried his luck from distance, but his left foot strike flew just over the bar. Things turned bad for Barca when Keita forced off with a nasty injury to be replaced by Busquets. Valdes comes again to action, when he hardly turned Yeste great free kick to corner.

The second half saw Barca taking control of the game, while Athletic seemed to counter attack. It was Iniesta who brought the first chance for the Blaugrana after fine work he cut the ball back for Sanchez, but the youngster blasted his effort way over the bar. Henry was the goal maker, when he set Eto’o, who didn’t have much trouble to pass over Amorebieta to fire home unstoppable volley. Amorebieta almost put through his own net minutes later with a header, but Iraizoz's diving save kept the score at 0-1.

Due the result, Barca managed to keep the ball into their feet, and they were wise enough to protect the leading goal. Iniesta again from the right wing set Eto’o face to face with Iraizoz, but this time, he missed the target in unbelievable way.

In general, the team appeared well organised and Goardiola should be pleased with the performance of his men. The game saw the return of Hleb who seemed to be useful for Pep in the next games. Despite that, the bad news comes from the injury of Keita, who will not be able to play the next game against Basle. Toure also will be under tests on Monday after he strained a muscle in his back after falling badly at a corner.

With good football and plenty of goals, Barcelona destroyed Atletico at Camp Nou by six goals to one. Marquez, Eto’o (2), Messi, Gudjohnsen and Henry scored for Barça, while Maxi scored the only goal for the visitors.

Four changes in the starting eleven from the one started last game. Alves was given a rest, while Henry, Yaya and Keita were benched. Puyol was given right back place, Abidal his usual left side, with Marques and Pique being the last defenders. Busquets was the defensive midfielder in the center together with Xavi and Gudjohnsen. Eto'o as a striker, Messi and Iniesta played widely on the left and the right.

Attacking football from the start led to the 1st goal after three minutes from the kick-off, when Marquez headed home from a corner. two minutes later, Eto'o stuck home a penalty, after Messi was fouled by Ujfalusi. At the 8th minute, atletico looked shocked when Messi added the third when he played a free-kick quickly before the defensive wall had had time to get ready. Atletico did pull one back on the 13th minute, thanks to the wonderful strike from Maxi outside the area, but soon they were taken out of the game, when Eto'o added his second after few minutes. Gudjohnsen came up with the 5th goal, after Iniesta had drilled a shot low against the post and the Icelandic international was on hand to tap into the empty net. Too many opportunities to score for the home side, but the final result of the 1st half remained unchanged.

The second half didn't bring much, Barca controlling and creating more chances, while Atletico remained unable to compete with the Catalan. With the three points in the bag, Pep decided to bring off Eto'o and also Messi, and Henry and Bojan coming in to replace them. The last goal came just to show what quality of football Barca can have, Henry started the move inside the Atlético half, passing to Xavi, who laid the ball off to Bojan, who gave it back to Henry on the edge of the box and the french blasted into the right bottom corner.

Very high performance by the Catalan and their coach, who deserves all the credits for what he has done with the team so far. Pep continued giving the payers in the front line the freedom to swap, especially for Messi who didn't seem easy target for Atletico to spot, Iniesta as well, his ability to play in many positions makes it easy for any coach to take the best out of him. But despite the brilliant result, Barca still didn't win any match without receiving a goal.

A very important win gives Barcelona another three points that set them up nicely for a place in the second round, after hard game against shakhtar, in the champions league groups stage. Messi showed his origin tonight, when he turned the 1-0 defeat into victory, after scoring twice for the Blaugrana in the last minutes.

Despite the bad results Shakhtar had in their first nine games in the league, the home side started strong and seemed able to trouble the visitors. Barcelona had all the difficulties in controlling the ball, and failed to keep up with the strength and fitness of Shakhtars players. The 3-4-3 formation didn’t help Xavi and keita to get any extra space. The pressure that was done by Shakhtar and their counter attacks kept Barca away from their usual style of play. However, it was Henry who had the first chance, when he broke through the defense line, but his finish failed to trouble Pyatov. More time passes, more we see Shakhtar get more confidence. No goals from both sides until the 45th minute, when Ilsinho received a long ball in the box area, the Brazilian brushed past Puyol before lifting the ball over Valdés.

After the break, Messi came on for Henry in the 59th minute. The Argentinean didn’t wait long to make his first contact, when he sent Eto'o clear, but the striker lost his balance before sending the ball near the right post. Guardiola sent on Bojan and Gudjohnsen to replace Eto’o and Keita in the 73rd and 81st minute, willing to provide the team with fresh legs. Bojan effort wasn’t enough to tie the game, when his shot was not directed to the goal.

While Shakhtar appeared fighting more to protect their lead, the 87th minute was the time Barca came back into the game, when Pyatov failed to catch the crossed ball by Bojan, to find Messi who scored facing an empty goal. The last minute of the 4 minutes extra time saw the second goal for Barca, when Messi was set clear nicely by Xavi, the number 10 didn’t panic and lift the ball over Pyatov.

With two games per week, it is hard to keep the players in shape. Goardiula was willing to save his players effort for the game against Atletico de Madrid, but after seeing the first half result, he found himself forced to call up Messi, who was obviously kept out to rest him for the weekend.

Despite the good result, Barca still didn’t show solid defense for a team that plays in three competitions. Beside, the team still doesn’t convince when they play without Messi. We all remember how the team struggled last season, when he spent few weeks off due the injury.

The derby came out as one of those games that will not be forgotten for a long time. A penalty in the last minute was enough to give Barca all three points. Barcelona continued the good run since their first win against Sporting de Gijon.

Pep Guardiola named four surprise changes to his team with Pique, Busquets, Gudjohnsen and Henry came in to replace Marquez, Yaya, Keita and Eto. Barca started strong and able to find the spaces, while Espanyol played deep and seem to counter attack. Despite the good chances Barca had to score, Coro was the one who gave Espanyol the lead in the 20th minute. The replay showed that Valdes was fouled by Luis Garca, but the referee allowed the goal to stand.

The goal came just to increase the intensity of the derby. Barcelona went forward willing to tie the score, but all their efforts were denied by Kameni and his defense. Before the break, Espanyol were forced to play with ten men, after Nene received his second yellow in the game.

The first half result gives no choice to Pep but just to risk, especially when the opponent is one man down. Eto, Keita and Bojan entered the pitch instead of Abidal, Gudjohnsen and Busquets. The back line remained only with puyol Pique and alves who was most of the time in the center half, together with Inesta, Keita and Xavi. Henry, Eto, Bojan and Messi were all put in front.

The referee had to stop the game for few minutes, when a number of home supporters tried to enter the field of play. Following a break of around ten minutes, the game started and Barca showed that they are going to score. One mistake by Kameni was deadly enough for his team, when Henry took advantage of the misunderstanding between Jarque and his goal keeper to bring the equalizer.

Three minutes were shown as an extra time. These minutes were enough for Barca to win the three points, after Messi scoring from the penalty spot the second goal, and his fourth goal of the season.

Deserved victory for the Blaugrana takes them up to ten points, this shows that Barcelona with Pep are able to find a way to win the title this year.
